Unfortunately, playing here in the summer can be a real challenge :-( Last year, they started bragging about their new air conditioning, which encouraged me to come back and play here. It’s okay in the winter, but in the summer it can be tough—and interestingly, not even during the hottest days. When it was really warm, the AC actually worked, and it wasn’t great on the court, but it was bearable. It’s much worse when it’s hot but not unbearably so—that’s when the AC is turned off. After asking at the front desk, it turned out that it turns on automatically at 25 degrees—I don’t know where they measure it. Out of curiosity, I checked with the temperature sensor on my Pixel phone, and it read 24.6 on the court. In my opinion—and that of everyone who was with me—this is way too hot to play, partly because of sweating and fatigue, and also because the ball heats up more and bounces like crazy. Out of curiosity, I looked it up, and according to the WSF, the optimal temperature for playing is 18 degrees, so even if we don’t aim for that exact number, it should be much closer to 20 than 25. Besides, the reservation system—why is it constantly being changed, and always for the worse…? It used to be convenient; you paid exactly what you were supposed to with the discount cards. Now, the money from the discount cards goes back to the Playmore account for future reservations or to be withdrawn later at the front desk—and sometimes I don’t know if someone on the staff made a mistake or if someone entered it incorrectly and it didn’t go to my account; it’s hard to tell after the fact. It used to be that you’d select a time slot, then choose from the available courts within that time slot and make a reservation. Now, if you want to reserve two courts next to each other, unfortunately you have to select a specific court, close the selection window, check if that court is available at that time, and then do the same for the next one until you find two next to each other—we’ve gone from something trivial to something that irritates me every single time I make a reservation. Also, the locker room can get really hot sometimes—I think it’s because of the sauna—but I didn’t used to notice it that much; maybe something’s changed. And in my opinion, they could replace those benches in the locker room with taller ones, but that’s just my opinion and a minor detail. I was thinking about giving even fewer stars, but the courts are cool, the staff is nice, the showers are okay—it could be worse ;-) However, I’m lowering my rating even further—the booking system is absolutely hopeless. I was already convinced that all the courts were booked, but it turned out the system just remembered that I’d set a filter for a specific court earlier (a week earlier)—you can’t see that it’s selected until you click on the filters—so I was already thinking we wouldn’t be able to play this time. Luckily, I kept looking… I don’t think I’ve ever encountered such an inconvenient, unintuitive booking system—and on top of that, a service fee is charged for every booking just for the “pleasure” of using it...
